STRENGTHENING SUPERVISION, UNHAS MWA CONDUCT FIELD VISITS ON ASSETS AT UNHAS BARAYA CAMPUS

As a Legal Entity Higher Education Institution (PTN BH), Unhas has the autonomy to manage assets independently. However, the management and utilization of assets is regulated in regulations that refer to ministry regulations as paying for the use and utilization of assets. The assets controlled by PYTN BH remain state land whose use is handed over to PTNBH. The government’s direction regarding assets in state institutions, including PTNBH, is that no assets should be left dormant and unutilized.
Unhas has assets spread mainly across three campus locations, Baraya Campus, Tamalanrea Campus and Gowa Campus. The Baraya Campus is the location of Unhas’ first campus and after the completion of the Tamalanrea Campus, all teaching and learning activities were moved to a new location. Moving the location to the campus caused assets in the form of faculty buildings, classrooms, laboratories and practice areas to become empty and unused. Apart from that, there are several Unhas assets that were originally used and then stopped operating for one reason or another. One of the mandates of the Hasanuddin University Statute to the Board of Trustees, which is the main apparatus of a Legal Entity Higher Education Institution, is to supervise and maintain the financial health of Unhas. MWA supervision is primarily carried out in the management of strategic assets by work units appointed by university leaders.
Good and professional asset management is important to maintain the stability and health of business units that utilize the assets in question so that the units do not become cost centers and have a negative impact on the institution. For this reason, it is necessary to monitor the Unhas business unit that manages this strategic asset. Several Unhas assets related to Unhas finances are closely related to services to the community and have a steady cash flow flow.
By conducting field visits to assets on the Unhas Baraya Campus, it is hoped that the Unhas MWA will get an overview of the performance of each unit as a baseline in carrying out supervisory duties to assist Unhas in maintaining its financial health. The field visit to Unhas work units by MWA aims to obtain information and an overview of the management of Unhas’ strategic assets from both management and financial aspects as an effort to monitor Unhas’ performance.
A field visit to the Unhas Assets in Baraya was held on Tuesday, August 22 2023. The field visit to the assets at the Ex Baraya Unhas Campus, was attended by the Chair, Deputy Chair and Executive Secretary as well as members of the MWA. Apart from that, this activity was also attended by the Director of PT Inomar, the Head of the Pratama Unhas Clinic, and the Directorate of Business Development and Asset Utilization (PUPA). Some of the assets/work units visited at the former Baraya Unhas Village were the Unhas Pratama Clinic, the Tamarunanga Building, the Ex Unhas Wisma on Jalan Sunu, and the Ex Faculty of Animal Husbandry Building.
Prof. Andi Alimuddin Unde as Chair of the MWA, on his occasion while visiting several of these assets, stated that it is very important to design a good master plan and business plan for planning commercial activities, whether directly managed by Unhas or in collaboration with partners. The assets owned by Unhas at the former Unhas Baraya Campus have enormous potential to be developed. It is hoped that these assets can be managed well and become a revenue center for Unhas. The Chairman of the MWA did not forget to appreciate the Director of PUPA Unhas and partners for the management of the Tamarunang Building which has been put to good use.
