REVIEW OF LEARNING SUPPORTING ASSETS ON VOCATIONAL CAMPUS IN THE REGION: FORM OF ATTENTION OF THE COUNCIL OF TRUSTEES TOWARDS HASANUDDIN UNIVERSITY'S NON-ACADEMIC MANAGEMENT.

The Unhas Vocational Faculty is one of the faculties formed to integrate the management of several applied undergraduate study programs (D-IV) at Unhas. The formation of an applied undergraduate study program is one of the directions of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, Technology and Higher Education’s policy to produce university graduates who are skilled and able to compete in the world of work. At Unhas itself, vocational education has been established in the last five years. Most vocational education is a collaborative program with regional governments such as the Barru Regency Regional Government, Selayar Regency and including the Soppeng Regency Regional Government. Regional government support is basically in the form of facilities and infrastructure to support learning, both in the form of grants and facilities used with Unhas. Thus, in every region that collaborates for this vocational program, there is an Unhas Campus. As applied education, the Vocational Faculty places more emphasis on learning on practical activities. Thus, the adequacy and quality of facilities and infrastructure are important aspects for managing this study program.
One of the mandates of the Hasanuddin University Statute to the Board of Trustees, which is the main apparatus of a Legal Entity Higher Education Institution, is to carry out supervision, especially in the non-academic field of Unhas. MWA supervision is primarily carried out in the management of facilities and infrastructure supporting academic activities. Even though the MWA’s field of supervision is more in the non-academic field, academic activities cannot run well if they are not supported by good facilities and infrastructure. Thus, it is necessary to monitor the capacity, adequacy and appropriateness of learning support facilities in learning management units, including those under the management of the Unhas Vocational Faculty, especially in Soppeng Regency. By conducting field visits to vocational campuses in the regions, it is hoped that Unhas MWA will get an overview of the performance of each study program unit as a baseline in carrying out supervisory duties to assist Unhas in implementing quality learning. The field visit to the Unhas Vocational Campus location by MWA aims to obtain information and an overview of the management of Unhas Vocational Faculty facilities both in terms of adequacy and quality as an effort to monitor Unhas’ performance.
Field visits to inspect the facilities of the Unhas Vocational Faculty were carried out in several sessions, visits to the Vocational Campus in Barru and Sidrap Regencies on 4-5 November 2023 and the Soppeng Vocational Campus on 29-30 November 2023. The field visit to the Vocational Faculty was attended by the Chair, Deputy Chairman and Executive Secretary as well as members of the MWA. Apart from that, this activity was also attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Vocational Studies and his staff as well as the head of the Study Program and the lecturers of the relevant study programs.
The activity ran smoothly and consisted of a session reviewing the assets of facilities and infrastructure supporting learning for study program learning activities managed by the Unhas Vocational Faculty. The asset review is carried out by first reviewing the classroom during the lecture so that a real picture of teaching and learning activities and interactions between students and lecturers are obtained. Next, the MWA group visited the lecturer’s official residence facilities which are intended for Soppeng vocational lecturers and guest lecturers when teaching.
After reviewing the vocational campus assets, the activity continued with friendly relations and discussions with the District Government and the Vocational Faculty. Discussions related to issues of asset condition and future development.
The Chairman of the MWA on his occasion said that the synergy between the Regency Government and Unhas could always be maintained and developed. One of them is by using vocational campuses as a place for HR capacity building programs for agencies in the Regency. Apart from that, it is also necessary to maintain and improve lecture facilities and infrastructure such as sufficient classrooms to anticipate the increase in the number of students from the next admission, added Prof. Andi Alimuddin Unde.
