Jakarta, June 24, 2025 — The Board of Trustees of Hasanuddin University (MWA Unhas) actively participated in the PTNBH MWA Forum Hearing with the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. Brian Yuliarto, Ph.D., which was held at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Building, Senayan, Jakarta. This event marked an important milestone in advocating for more autonomous, adaptive, and globally competitive governance of State Universities with Legal Entity Status (PTNBH).

At the meeting held on June 24, 2025, MWA Unhas was represented by Deputy Chair II of MWA, Prof. Dr. Ir. Muh. Arsyad Thaha, MT., and Chair of Commission II of MWA, Prof. Dr. drg. Hasanuddin Thahir, M.Kes. The meeting was attended by MWA leaders from various state universities throughout Indonesia and chaired by the Chair of the State University MWA Forum, Prof. Moh. Nasir (Chair of the UNDIP MWA).

In his speech, the Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education welcomed the initiative of the PTNBH MWA Forum, which is considered very important in building a bridge of communication between the government and policy-making bodies in higher education. This audience was a continuation of a similar agenda with the Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform and the Minister of Finance.

The participation of MWA Unhas in this forum strengthens the university’s strategic position in voicing institutional and national interests amid the challenges of managing PTNBH. On the other hand, this forum also opens up opportunities for collaboration between universities in strengthening the three pillars of higher education, optimizing assets, and developing human resources.

The recommendations that emerged are expected to be immediately followed up by the relevant ministries in order to accelerate the transformation of Indonesia’s higher education system. For Unhas, this forum is not only a space for advocacy, but also a stepping stone for formulating long-term strategic policies that are more adaptive, inclusive, and oriented towards global competitiveness.
