MWA Unhas Holds FGD on Drafting Regulations on the Establishment and Management of Foundations

The Board of Trustees (MWA) of Hasanuddin University held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) in order to draft MWA Regulations on the Establishment and Management of Foundations. The FGD was held over two days, from Monday to Tuesday, December 22-23, 2025, at the Unhas Hotel & Convention as an effort to strengthen institutional governance and legal certainty within Hasanuddin University.
This FGD served as a strategic forum to discuss various crucial aspects of the establishment and management of foundations, ranging from the objectives of establishing a foundation, clarity of social benefit terminology, separation of foundation assets, to the regulation of the foundation’s organizational structure and oversight mechanisms. The discussion also highlighted the need to adjust existing foundations to align with legal regulations and the principles of governance for state-owned universities with legal entity status (PTNBH).
In the discussion, which was attended by the leaders and members of the MWA and the team drafting the regulations on the Establishment and Management of Foundations, the participants emphasized the importance of formulating regulations that are consistent, compliant with regulations, and implementable, in order to prevent potential conflicts of interest and ensure that the management of foundations is transparent, professional, and accountable. The FGD also emphasized the need for clear regulations regarding the role of the university in the Foundation, especially Unhas as a PTNBH.
Through this FGD, the MWA of Hasanuddin University gathered various substantive inputs from the legal, governance, and best practice aspects of foundation management at PTNBH. All of these inputs will be important material in refining the MWA Draft Regulation before it is officially enacted in accordance with the applicable mechanisms.
The drafting of the MWA Regulation on the Establishment and Management of Foundations is expected to provide a strong legal basis for strengthening the governance of Hasanuddin University and optimizing the role of foundations as entities that support the sustainable achievement of the university’s vision and mission.
