As PTNBH, Unhas is required to continue to develop dynamically and make rapid leaps in optimizing the potential utilization of its resources and assets, including superior and agile human resources. To support the development of science and technology which leads to the downstreaming of innovative products from the academic community, Unhas has an Unhas Technology Business & Science Techno Park (IBT-STP) Incubation Unit which is directly responsible to the Chancellor. With this unit, innovation and downstreaming of Unhas’ science and technology development results can be carried out in an integrated and professional manner. With the very rapid development of science and technology in the current era of globalization, the performance of the IBT-STP unit is very important not only for achieving Unhas’s vision and mission but also for realizing Unhas’s Tridarma for the progress of the nation and state.

In carrying out its supervision, MWA Unhas is required to have broad and deep insight regarding the forms of management and development of the Science Techno Park (STP) which is one of the important components that characterize an advanced PTNBH. One of the universities that has an STP that has advanced and developed is Gunadarma University or what is known as UGTP (Gunadarma Techno Park University). From this comparative study activity to UGTP, MWA Unhas got an idea of good practice regarding good STP management and its development. The results of the comparative study will ultimately become discussion material to produce recommendations to the management, especially the Rectorate and the IBT-STP Unhas administrators themselves.

Benchmarking to Gunadarma Techno Park University (UGTP) was held on Friday-Saturday, 17-18 November 2023. Benchmarking to UGTP was attended by the Chair, Deputy Chair and Executive Secretary as well as members of the MWA. Apart from that, this activity was also attended by IBT-STP Unhas and UG and UGTP managers. The participants who attended this benchmarking activity were as follows:

The benchmarking activity consisted of two sessions, namely a visit to UGTP located in Jamali Village, Cianjur Regency, West Answer and a visit to the f8 Campus of Gunadarma University on Jalan Tugu, Cimanggis, Depok, West Java. The visit to UGTP in Cianjur aims to inspect Gunadarma University’s Science Techno Park (STP) and hold discussions with UGTP leaders and managers. The group arrived in Jakarta on November 16 2023 and was then accompanied by the UGTP to Jamali Village, Cianjur Regency. The inspection of the UGTP location was carried out on Friday, November 18 2023. This session began with an inspection of several zones in the UGTP and the UGTP innovation product processing unit. The visit then continued with a meeting between the UGTP management and the Unhas MWA group. After the visit session to UGTP was completed, the group left for Jakarta on Saturday, November 18 2023 to then visit the F8 UG Campus in Depok. The MWA group was received by the Chancellor and Vice Chancellor IV UG and carried out an inspection of several academic facilities such as the Integrated Laboratory of the Faculty of Medicine, UGTV Studio and Reading Room.

Also on this occasion, the MWA group and the Chancellor gave a talk show on UGTV with various topics, namely: Downstreaming and Innovation, Health and Food Security. Apart from that, fruit trees (longan, durian, mango, rambutan and jengkol) were also planted by the entire MWA group, the Chancellor of Unhas and the Chancellor of UG which was also covered by UGTV.

From the visits made to UGTP and the F8 UG Campus, several recommendations were conveyed to the Rector, such as utilizing the enormous potential of Unhas assets and resources so that they could be utilized in developing IBT-STP Unhas. For example, using several locations such as the Education Pond in Barru for the STP zone in the field of inland fisheries, and the Unhas land in Pattallassang for the STP in the field of animal husbandry, etc. Apart from that, the Chairman of the MWA also emphasized that the STP development plan must have a careful Master Plan and contain good planning. Unhas’s strength in downstreaming innovative products must be maintained and further developed by maintaining local policies and establishing synergy with the community both at innovation development locations and with the industrial world, concluded Prof. Andi Alimuddin Unde.
