HISTORY
BOARD OF TRUSTEES
The transition of Hasanuddin University (Unhas) status to a legal entity providing higher education (PTN BH) in 2015, marked the formation of the Board of Trustees (MWA) which is the core organ of Unhas apart from the Rector and Academic Senate. In principle, the MWA institution has the task and function of determining general policies and development directions for Unhas and giving consideration to its implementation in the form of supervision, especially in non-academic aspects. Thus, MWA is also responsible for the development of Unhas to ensure the creation of clean, honest and innovative institutional management.
In carrying out institutional management, Unhas is required to always maintain and improve its quality as PTN BH. Based on Minister of Education and Culture Regulation Number 88 of 2014 concerning changes from state university (PTN) to legal entity university (PTN BH), five areas that Unhas must accomplish as a PTN BH, namely implementing the Tridarma of Higher Education, implementing good governance principles, meeting minimum financial eligibility standards, carrying out social responsibility duties. and play a role in economic development. During the transition period in 2017, Unhas has made various efforts to improve its management system and performance through the three organs, the Board of Trustees, Rectorate, Academic Senate and as one complete unit to ensure the fulfillment of these requirements.
The direction of policy formulation and supervision carried out by MWA Unhas so far has focused on efforts to fulfill the principles of good governance including accountability, transparency, efficiency, effectiveness and non-profit in institutional management, compliance in implementing PTN BH management legislation including periodization, accuracy and compliance with time in preparing and submitting reports, especially in non-academics. In addition, MWA also seeks to assist the Rectorate to meet minimum standards in financial feasibility such as giving consideration to financial management and strategic assets of Unhas in accordance with applicable legislation, achieving an unqualified institutional opinion and developing funding sources other than community costs. MWA Unhas also pays attention to aspects of the role and social responsibility of institutions in educating the nation’s life and encouraging economic development in the form of considerations given regarding the implementation of services to the community, increasing Unhas’ role in developing small and medium businesses, resolving industrial problems and encouraging entrepreneurship in local communities. These efforts must of course take place continuously and be based on the 2030 long-term development plan (RP Unhas) where maritime culture is highlighted as a characteristic of Unhas as a legal entity higher education institution.
